Creede knows how to throw a party — this time for itself. This season marks the box-canyon theater's 50th year, and the company commissioned a play about its founding in 1966. Creede stalwart Nagle Jackson wrote and directs "Ghost Light," a fictionalized tale that gets at the heart of the theater's relationship to its community. Some luminaries will haunt the stage, among them Robert Ford, killer of Jesse James, and a fine British lady — and brothel proprietress — by the name of Poker Alice.

Need two more reasons to make the trek to this picturesque town? Ace director Christy Montour-Larson will direct Tracy Lett's biting fun family gathering, "August: Osage County." Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company honcho Stephen Weitz does his first Creede stint, helming the world premiere of George Brant's "Good on Paper," about a police sketch artist whose subjects come to life and complicate hers.
